Incorporating Big Data Into the Classroom, Apr. 3
Everyone is talking about Big Data, but there are questions about how schools should teach about Big Data. Organized by faculty at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, this conference is designed to bring together faculty, students, and executives from the region to talk about the best ways to incorporate Big Data in the classroom, focusing on industry trends, academic resources, and employment needs.
The event will open with a luncheon and keynote speech by technology visionary Vivek Kundra, the first chief information officer of the United States of America, followed by a panel discussion with leading academic and industry professionals interested in Big Data education.
The conference is made possible through a research grant by IBM, awarded to Betsy Sigman, professor of the practice in operations and information management at Georgetown McDonough, through the 2012 IBM Faculty Awards. The annual worldwide program includes a grant to promote courseware and curriculum innovation in strategic disciplines and geographies, encourage industry adoption of emerging technologies, and create continuous opportunity to attract and hire exceptional technical and business talent.
