Wise Beyond His Years
Kuran Malhotra gets a lot of questions from his friends about financial issues. But as the CEO of the largest entirely student-run credit union, Malhotra has much more insight into the financial world than most 20-year-olds. The senior at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business says he doesn’t mind fielding his friends’ questions because he’s passionate about all forms of financial literacy. “I’m always happy to help out,” he says. “Financial literacy isn’t zero-sum, and you don’t gain anything by not sharing what you know. The more you share, the better off everyone becomes.”

Anne Botos (B’20), Sarah Pavlak (B’19), and Suraag Srinivas (SFS’20) won the Accenture Innovation Challenge, an elite nationwide case competition, for their proposal for CARE USA. The students received prize money and summer internships with Accenture.

Hands-on trading experience helps graduates find investment jobs
Jonathan Levi, 29, an MSc in finance student at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in Washington DC, is co-founding a hedge fund with a school alumnus who has pledged m, he says. They were inspired after winning an award in the 2018 Peeptrade University Challenge, a trading simulation contest for business school students. Their team turned a m portfolio of stocks, options and ETFs into 83bn over eight weeks, which was a global record in paper trading returns.
