Financial Services Industry Specialist
Christine Fruehwirth joined the Office of Professional Development at the McDonough School of Business in the fall of 2015 as the finance career coach. Between 2009 and 2013, she was a Career Consultant at the F. David Fowler Career Center at the George Washington University focusing on MBA students and later, undergraduate students majoring in finance and accounting. In addition, Christine taught multiple sections of the Career Management Strategy course to both business and non-business majors at GWU from 2011 to 2015. Christine founded FlexCareers Consulting located in Potomac, MD in March, 2004 and continues to assist clients through the career re-entry or transition process. Prior to starting her own career consulting practice, she worked in Product Development and Client Development roles for Lending Tree in Charlotte, NC, and for a variety of financial institutions including Bank of America, Capital One and Wells Fargo Bank. She has experience in consumer as well as investment banking. Christine earned her MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Villanova University. Christine meets with students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Rebecca Cassidy has 12 years’ experience coaching, training, and advising business students and mid-career professionals. Currently the director of the Undergraduate Office of Professional Development, Rebecca works to works to teach Georgetown McDonough’s 1400+ students how to develop their own career strategy through self-assessment and reflection, career education, and network building. Prior to working at Georgetown University, Rebecca gained extensive experience in academic, non-profit and corporate settings, gained while working both internationally and across the U.S. She earned her M.B.A. from George Washington University, her B.A. in psychology from Binghamton University and is certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator through the National Career Development Association. Outside of work, Rebecca is an avid Washington Nationals fan, loves the beach and hopes to one day ride her bike across the U.S.
Tom Crowder is a Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Program alumni with extensive experience in marketing and advertising on both the agency and client side. Industries include energy, telecom, financial, high tech, travel, media, nonprofit, home furnishings, apparel, and government. He is a resourceful, well-rounded coach with outstanding interpersonal skills. On the product side, he has worked with companies such as Verizon and the Certified Financial Professional Board of Standards, while on the agency side has worked with such firms as J. Walter Thompson. He is currently the Chief Marketing officer for Ethical Electric and resides in the D.C. area. Tom's appointments are now closed for the 2016-2017 academic year. Monice Sanders built much of her career at Verizon. She was part of the Leadership Development Program, progressing through multiple leadership roles in various aspects of the business, primarily in the Marketing organization, managing functions such as Product Marketing, Sales/Service and Revenue Assurance. She also directed teams in Human Resources, and Operations/Process Improvements. In these roles she led organizations of various sizes, including teams of over 1000 employees. For some time, Monice was Director of Verizon's University Relations Team, and her enthusiasm for this type of work led her to her current focus on career coaching. She really enjoys supporting students and others in identifying their key strengths and interests, as they develop and implement plans for long lasting career success and satisfaction. She earned her MBA at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, focusing on Marketing and Human Resources, and earned her Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics at Spelman College. Adam Smith is the founder and CEO of Adam Smith, LLC. He coaches students on self-discovery and reflection, assessments, resume development, careers and industry exploration, job search transition and strategy objectives, networking, interviewing and negotiating strategies, 30-60-90 day onboarding planning, and personal branding. Adam seeks to actively engage students in coaching conversations and leveraging the vast array of services, tools, and other resources available to students of the McDonough School of Georgetown University. He also provides group coaching, facilitation, skill building workshops and other strategic solutions to improve and accelerate student’s success. Adam’s prior experience includes 25 years in management consulting, Associate Faculty coaching MBA students in leadership, and career management consulting, executive coaching and leadership development with a Fortune 500 leader in career management and talent development. Adam earned an MBA in Organization Development from Johns Hopkins University, a B.A. in English Literature from Mary Washington College, and his Leadership Coaching Certification from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) certification from the International Coach Federation.
