Financial Markets Quality Conference, Oct. 12

WHAT: The Center for Financial Markets and Policy at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and the Financial Times will present a conference on Financial Markets Quality on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Michael Piwowar, commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Deborah Fuhr, managing partner and co-founder of ETFGI, will deliver keynote addresses.

The conference also will feature panel discussions, including:

  • Market Structure – The Vision from the Exchanges, with Chris Concannon, president and CEO, Bats Global Markets; Tom Farley, president, New York Stock Exchange; and Tom Wittman, executive vice president, Nasdaq;
  • Innovation in Market Structure, with Reggie Browne, senior managing director, Cantor Fitzgerald; David LaValle, U.S. head of SPDR ETF Capital Markets, State Street Global Advisors; Eric Noll, president and CEO, Convergex Group; and John Ramsay, chief market policy officer, IEX Group;
  • The Regulatory Policy Environment, with Chris Brummer, professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and recent nominee to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission; Donald Langevoort, professor at the Georgetown University Law Center; and Steve Luparello, director of trading and markets, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and
  • The Investor View on Market Structure, with Andy Brooks, vice president, T. Rowe Price; Ira Shapiro, managing director, BlackRock; and Dan Draper, managing director, Invesco PowerShares.
