Certificate Program In Nonmarket Strategy Starts Second Semester

Forty-one Georgetown McDonough Full-time and Evening MBA students are gaining an in-depth understanding of the nonmarket environment and strategy as part of the inaugural cohort of students seeking the MBA Certificate in Nonmarket Strategy.

The fall semester launched the certificate requirement and MBA elective, The Miracle of Markets?, taught by Professor John Mayo. Each class session features a student debate grounded in sound economics and designed to illustrate when markets work and when markets fail. Strategies Beyond the Market will be offered to certificate students in the second module, taught by Lecturer Andrea Hugill. Austin Williams (MBA/MPP ’17), who enrolled inStrategies Beyond the Market in spring 2016 when it was introduced as an MBA elective, said that the course “provided the opportunity to explore and eventually better understand the strategic implications and opportunities for businesses that arise from the inevitable government interventions in the market. I left the class with new insights for corporate strategy.”

The deadline for applications for the next certificate program cohort, open to first-year Full-time MBAs and second-year MBA Evening Program students, is January 2, 2017. To learn more, visit https://msb.georgetown.edu/mba/academics/nonmarket-strategy/overview .
