MBA Pre-assessment and Test Waiver Process
At Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, we recognize that applying for an MBA is an important commitment. Whether you are considering our Full-time MBA, Part-time MBA, or Online MBA Programs, we have designed a streamlined application experience that provides prospective students with early guidance while respecting their time.
Our optional Pre-assessment Process allows candidates to share key information upfront and receive feedback from our Admissions Team before completing the full application. This approach helps candidates better understand their next steps, including whether to move forward with an application and whether a standardized test waiver may be appropriate based on their academic background and professional experience.
MBA Pre-assessment Process
The MBA Pre-assessment is a brief introduction designed to help our admissions team learn more about your academic background, and professional experience. After submitting, candidates will receive feedback from the admissions team within 10 business days of submission. Based on the information provided, candidates may receive guidance to:
- Continue with the full application process
- Continue with the full application process and be considered for a standardized test waiver
- Continue with the full application process and submit a standardized test score
- Reconsider applying to Georgetown McDonough’s MBA program, and, instead, consider another program within the McDonough School of Business portfolio.
Candidates who choose to move forward may begin working on the full application at any time after completing the Pre-assessment.
Items required for the Pre-assessment include:
- Unofficial Transcripts
- Resume
- Test scores (optional)
- Application Form
- If applying for test waiver, an optional short essay answering, “Please explain why you believe you are prepared to succeed in the quantitative coursework of Georgetown’s MBA curriculum without submitting a standardized test score. In your response, provide evidence of your quantitative readiness, and describe how your resilience, determination, and commitment to learning will contribute to your success in Georgetown McDonough’s academically rigorous environment. (300 words) “
Complete Your Application
The final step is to submit the remaining application materials needed for the Admissions Committee to conduct a full holistic review of your candidacy. Through this step, candidates will provide greater insight into their professional accomplishments, leadership experiences, academic preparation, career goals, and alignment with Georgetown McDonough.
