Georgetown Entrepreneurship Announces Finalists of 2019 Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize
Georgetown Entrepreneurship, serving all of Georgetown University from the McDonough School of Business, announces the finalists for the Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize.
Student and alumni entrepreneurs will pitch their ventures with the community at the annual Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize “Bark Tank” pitch competition Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019. Finalists will try to win over a panel of judges and the audience to win a share of the $100,000 Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize.
The eight finalists are:
Global Unified Air Quality (GUAQ)
Simra Ali (C’22), Roberto D’Angelo-Cosme (C’21), Anna Giaquinto (C’21), and Neal Singal (B’22)
Global Unified Air Quality (GUAQ) is a compelling, open-source AQ platform already shipping to communities worldwide that previously could not afford to monitor their air quality.
HealthCare Mobile
Jennie Nwokoye (SCS’20)
HealthCare Mobile increases healthcare outcomes for 200 million Nigerians by connecting them to community health workers within their local community to provide home-based primary care services.
Prosperity Fund
Ariel Fishman (MBA’20)
Prosperity Fund provides seniors with more lucrative exits from their life insurance policies, while providing its investors with major returns that do not carry traditional market risk.
StrawZero
Julian Davis (B’21)
Tackling the crisis of single-use plastic straw waste at its source, StrawZero is the first-ever easy-to-clean reusable straw system for restaurants.
SYNC
Omar Al-Alami (MBA’20)
SYNC is a developer of real-time payment ecosystems focused on completing seamless payments and accelerating their settlement.
UHustle Inc
Christy Felix (B’20), Sinclaire Jones (B’22), and Benjamin Ogbonna II (B’20)
UHustle is a marketplace for college students with side hustles. It was created for students and by students to help connect potential customers and student micro-entrepreneurs across campus.
Unveil
Anna Katherine Fischer (SCS’20)
Unveil is a wellness brand that raises awareness around women’s health through intimate apparel.
VentureLift Africa
Wilmot Allen (G’19)
VentureLift Africa is a fintech and curation platform for scaling African startups and SMEs through innovative financing and curated matches with trade, supply chain, talent, transaction advisors, and technology partners.
Current Georgetown undergraduate and graduate students, as well as Georgetown alumni within six months of graduation, are eligible to win the prize and may be nominated as individuals or as teams. Georgetown’s Entrepreneurs-in-Residence provide valuable coaching and mentorship to the Leonsis prize finalists. Recipients of the prize are selected through a rigorous nomination, application, and review process culminating in the Nov. 14 Bark Tank event.
The Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize is supported by Ted Leonsis (C’77), a longtime entrepreneur, investor, and founder, majority owner, chairman and chief executive officer of Monumental Sports & Entertainment; his wife, Lynn; his son, Zach (MBA’15), senior vice president of strategic initiatives of Monumental Sports & Entertainment and general manager of Monumental Sports Network; and his daughter, Elle (C’14), digital marketing director of SnagFilms, Inc.
