11 Undergraduate Students Inducted into Distinguished Jesuit Honor Society

Students in the Undergraduate Program at the McDonough School of Business recently were inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu (AΣN), the National Jesuit Honor Society of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

AΣN is an exclusive honor society for the top academic performers at Jesuit colleges and universities, which selects the top 15% of the junior and senior class for membership. In addition to their educational achievements, the inducted students also demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Jesuit values of serving the common good.

“We are proud to recognize Georgetown McDonough’s AΣN inductees, who have committed to using their Jesuit education and extraordinary talents to serve the common good and care for our global community,” said Patricia Grant, senior associate dean of the Undergraduate Program. “These students wholeheartedly embody our values through their deep commitment to Ignatian spirituality, passion for serving others, and personal investment in the intellectual life at Georgetown. We look forward to the many transformational contributions these Hoyas will make to both business and society.”

AΣN recognizes students who distinguish themselves in scholarship, loyalty, and service – embracing a promise to become agents of change and promote faith and justice out in the world. The Class of 2022 inductees join a network of more than 90,000 AΣN members worldwide who share commitment to this mission.

“Membership in Alpha Sigma Nu helped me put into perspective the Jesuit values that influence my Georgetown experience,” said Bayley Wivell (B’22). “I have developed intellectual curiosity toward subjects outside of my field of study, broadening my perspective and ability to contribute to conversations in the greater world. I am excited to be part of a community of driven, reflective, and open-minded individuals in this society.”

The values of AΣN are aligned with the broader principles of Jesuit institutions, encouraging students to carry their alma mater’s mission with them into the world after graduation. Each AΣN member is encouraged to follow a lifetime pursuit of intellectual development, service to others, and a commitment to the core principles of Jesuit education throughout their careers.

“My Jesuit education at Georgetown University has been about learning together in a community of peers who are equally passionate about bettering themselves and society,” said Eugenie Ishimwe (B’23). “For that reason, my success has been largely due to all the people and resources available to me that have guided me in my journey. I hope to give back to all those who come after me in all my pursuits.”
