Accounting Professor Appointed GASB Academic Fellow

William R. Baber, accounting professor and accounting area coordinator for the McDonough School of Business, was recently appointed a 2016 academic fellow from the Governmental Accounting Standard’s Board (GASB). The board’s vision is to provide greater accountability and well-informed decision making through excellence in public-sector financial reporting. As an academic fellow, Baber will join discussions on GASB projects and work to improve governmental financial statements.

Baber’s research primarily focuses on accounting and public policy issues, and his work has been published in various academic journals such as the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, and Journal of Accounting Research. He also has served on the editorial boards for The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and was the editor of the Journal of Governmental & Nonprofit Accounting.
