Baratta Center for Global Business Sponsors U.S.-German Hydrogen Forum Event

The Baratta Center sponsored the U.S.-German Hydrogen Forum on January 17, 2024.

The event, organized by Christopher Perry (MA-IBP’23),  and Michael Ryan, teaching professor of global business at McDonough, was designated as an official USA-Germany Climate and Energy Partnership Bilateral Forum and showcased the burgeoning hydrogen value chain/sector and important cooperation between the United States and Germany in the field.

The forum featured speakers from the Representative of German Industry and Trade (RGIT), the U.S. Department of Energy, Siemens Energy, H2Global Foundation, Rocky Mountain Institute, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the International Finance Corporation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Global Energy Institute, and Quantron AG. These discussions centered on the economic, geopolitical, and global value chain implications of transatlantic cooperation in hydrogen technology.

The forum, organized in conjunction with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and the Walsh School of Foreign Service, and collaborators with RGIT and Responsible Alpha, offered a comprehensive overview of the global hydrogen economy and highlighted the need for multisector collaboration, international cooperation, policy support, and educational initiatives to drive rapid adoption.

Inspired by the discussions at the U.S.-German Hydrogen Forum, the Baratta Center plans to conduct a case study on Siemens Energy’s significant contributions and technological leadership in the green hydrogen landscape, focusing on their hydrogen market opportunity analysis and highlighting their expertise, innovation, and strategic vision in this transition.
