Business of Sustainability Speaker Series: Dan Gabaldon (SFS’86) Discusses Sustainability and the Energy Sector

Dan Gabaldon (SFS’86), a senior partner at Roland Berger who co-leads the firm’s energy and infrastructure activity in the Americas, recently sat down with Safak Yucel, associate professor of operations management and associate director of the Business of Sustainability Initiative at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, to discuss sustainability and the energy sector as part of the initiative’s Sustainability Speakers Series. Vishal Agrawal, Henry J. Blommer Family Endowed Chair in Sustainable Business and academic director of the initiative, introduced Gabaldon to the audience before the moderated discussion.

Gabaldon discussed his time as a student at Georgetown and how he entered the energy sector, which has changed significantly in the last 25 years. The conversation spanned his  extensive career working with top companies, investors, and policymakers worldwide on strategy and performance improvement programs in the energy sector, including Roland Berger, the Boston Consulting Group, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Throughout the conversation, Gabaldon and Yucel touched on various topics, including the energy transition in response to climate change, the future of clean hydrogen, and optimal energy storage. Many attendees, including undergraduate and graduate students, had the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. Gabaldon also spoke with attendees during the closing reception.
