Ernst Receives Patrick Healy Award at John Carroll Weekend

Ricardo Ernst, Baratta Chair in Global Business, professor of operations and global logistics, and director, Global Business Initiative, was presented the 2018 Patrick Healy Award by Georgetown University President John DeGioia during this year’s John Carroll Weekend’s Award Banquet held in Seattle on April 14.

The Patrick Healy Award is the highest honor bestowed by Georgetown’s Alumni Association upon distinguished individuals who are not alumni. Established in 1969 and named for Reverend Patrick Healy, S.J., the first black president of a major American university and Georgetown’s “second founder,” the Patrick Healy Award symbolizes the deep admiration that the university holds for these unique individuals and special friends of Georgetown.

Ernst’s achievements in the business world are extensive, as he utilizes his experiences and accomplishments to teach his students in the classroom. A member of Georgetown McDonough faculty since 1987, Ernst created the Global Business Fellows program with the School of Foreign Service for undergraduates in both schools and launched the Global Business Experience for those students. To help expand Georgetown’s mission to those in Latin America, he also serves as managing director of the university’s Latin American Board and executive director of Georgetown’s Latin America Leadership Program, for which he directs the Global Competitiveness Leadership and the Innovation in Leadership and Government programs, as well as new management development programs.
