Norean Sharpe Serves as Honorary Committee Member of International Women’s Organization

Norean Sharpe, senior associate dean and director of undergraduate programs at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, is an honorary committee member of the American Women for International Understanding (AWIU), a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to promote women-to-women interaction and understanding worldwide. Sharpe’s fellow committee members include high-level leaders from business, academia, and government, providing a breadth of knowledge, perspective, and skill to the all-female organization.

The AWIU recently hosted its ninth annual International Women of Courage Celebration in Los Angeles, California. The event, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, honors women who have shown exceptional leadership and courage in advocating for women’s rights, and pays tribute to exemplary women for their inspirational commitment to freedom and human dignity.

Each year, the organization recognizes International Women of Courage and Internationalism Award recipients. Past AWIU Internationalism Award recipients include former First Lady Laura Bush and Melanne Verveer, the first U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues and the founding director of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
