Learn More About a Georgetown MBA

Georgetown McDonough’s MBA Program produces the world’s most innovative and creative graduates, according to the nearly 3,000 recruiters who responded to the Bloomberg Businessweek recruiter survey as part of their annual MBA rankings.

“At Georgetown McDonough, we thrive in an environment of continuous innovation, where we introduce new electives and programs that best prepare our MBA students to meet the changing needs of employers,” said Prashant Malaviya, senior associate dean for MBA programs. “We also have a culture that values individualized attention from faculty and staff and care for others among our community, which enhances the experiences of our students.”

The Recruiter Insights report lists McDonough as:

  • 1st in the world for having graduates who are innovative and creative
  • 1st in the United States and 4th in the world for providing a diverse pool of candidates
  • 5th in the world for graduates showing exceptional entrepreneurial skills and drive

This year, McDonough introduced a new opening term course in Leading Teams for Performance and Impact, which also explores inclusive communities and implicit biases. Students complete their first year with a leadership communications course where the final exam is the Executive Challenge, where panels of executive-level alumni role-play boardroom cases with student teams. Plus, all MBAs are required to complete the Global Business Experience consulting project where they deliver the results in-country to their organization’s leadership. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in numerous certificates, including in nonmarket strategies, sustainable business, consumer analytics and insights, as well as experiential opportunities like the Venture Fellows or the Real Estate Clinic.

The school also is home to Georgetown Entrepreneurship, which seeks to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in students, foster an entrepreneurial culture across the university, support the successful growth of alumni ventures, and to leverage the power of entrepreneurship to make an impact in the world beyond Georgetown. MBA students have the option to take entrepreneurship electives and Intensive Learning Experiences, as well as to participate in mentorship opportunities, pitch competitions, and club activities.

The MBA Career Center also begins working with MBA students through a summer job search course before they begin their first year. They continue to provide individualized support through certified career counselors, a proprietary career inventory tool to help students narrow their search, and personalized outreach plans for each employer. The school also has implemented CareerView, a leading-edge recruitment technology solution for employers, students, and the MBA Career Center staff.
