Summer Internship Spotlight: Derron Payne (B'20), Snacklins

Each year, our students spend their summers in Washington, D.C., across the nation, and around the world working in corporate, nonprofit, and government organizations. Meet a few of our graduate and undergraduate students in this summer’s Internship Spotlight Series.

Derron Payne (B’20)

Marketing Intern, Snacklins
Rockville, MD

What are you doing this summer?

I’m interning at this startup called Snacklins located in the DMV area. I’m technically a marketing intern but it’s a startup so I get to do so much more.

How does your internship relate to your professional or personal interests?

I’m learning so much about marketing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) products but also learning how to scale a startup/brand from scratch. The end goal is for me to have my own brand.

How did you find the internship?

I found out about this internship from the amazing Talia Schatz, who is the Director of the Office of Professional & Leadership Development. She has been supportive and helpful throughout my entire internship search.

What’s the most interesting or impactful thing you’ve done so far, or are working on now?

So I can’t actually talk about the most interesting thing because of a NDA, but I will let your minds run wild. Another thing that I do that is pretty cool is I’m in charge of influencer partnerships, so I get to make contact with some pretty amazing people.

What else should we know?

I couldn’t have asked for a better internship experience.
