Catherine Potter

Catherine Potter has more than 25 years of experience as a corporate and real estate attorney. She is currently working for Roanoke College as an Advisor to the President, relating to various special projects regarding the College’s real estate portfolio as well as providing in-house general counsel services. Prior to this, Catherine worked at the Virginia Tech Foundation, where she served as General Counsel and Associate Vice President. Prior to joining the Foundation, Catherine worked for Capital Automotive Real Estate Services, Inc., a real estate investment firm, as its General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Senior Vice President. Previous work experience included her time at ORBCOMM Global, a satellite communications firm, where she worked as Corporate Secretary and Assistant General Counsel, as well as her time as an associate at the law firms of Sheppard Mullin in San Diego and Fennemore Craig in Phoenix, Arizona. She has served as a Commissioner for the New River Valley Regional Commission, as well as a Montgomery County (VA) Chamber of Commerce Board Member. Ms. Potter also previously taught at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, teaching business law for the MBA program from 2013 – 2017 and will be teaching again in 2024.   

 

Ms. Potter received both a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and a BA from Miami University (Ohio) (Summa Cum Laude–Double Major in Economics and Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs)
