Erik Voeten's research on the United Nations, the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights and broader issues of international law and cooperation has been published in journals such as the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, American Journal of International Law, International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Politics and the Journal of Conflict Resolution. He was the editor-in-chief of the journal International Organization and a founding editor of Research and Politics as well as a contributing editor of the Washington Post's Monkey Cage: His book, Ideology and International Institutions (new window), appeared with Princeton University Press in January 2021.
