Matthew Caulfield

Matthew Caulfield is an Assistant Professor of Strategy, Economics, Ethics, and Public Policy at the McDonough School of Business of Georgetown University. His main research interests are in philosophical business ethics, business & society, and nonmarket strategy. His most recent research focuses on market ethics, firm theory, and corporate governance. His work has been published in journals including Academy of Management Review (winning second runner-up for the UC Berkeley Haas Sustainable Research Prize), Business Ethics Quarterly, and Journal of Business Ethics.

Matthew serves on the Editorial Review Board of Academy of Management Review, and on the Editorial Boards of the journals Business & Society and Journal of Business Ethics. For the past two years, he has also served as an Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Annual Conference in the Social Issues in Management Division. He is a 2025-2026 Fellow of the Instituto Promotor del Bien Común on "The Economy, the Firm, and the Common Good" at UPAEP (Puebla, Mexico).

He previously served as Representative-at-Large for the International Association for Business & Society (IABS), and also was Media Director for the Society for Business Ethics and a Senior Fellow at the Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton School. As a hobby, he also does some work on voting technology markets, which as been profiled in Politico .
