What the New Virtual MBA Classroom is Like
Matthew Cypher, who is the Atara Kaufman Professor of Real Estate and director of the Steers Center for Global Real Estate at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business welcomes full-time MBAs to his Real Estate Clinic course at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time on the first day of April. It’s a similar greeting he’d be giving to students rushing into his classroom in Washington D.C. But on this early April afternoon, he’s greeting virtual heads popping up onto a computer screen. This is the new reality of residential full-time MBA programs across the country and globe. Once sitting next to one another, the students are spread to who knows where.

Can An MBA Help Build A Career In Property?
Even as a child at school, Aaron Bothner had a passion for property. “My parents were thinking of moving home and I went with them to look at houses and work out how they were priced,” he recalls. “Real estate fascinates me because it’s living history,” says Bothner, 33, now a vice-president for real estate acquisitions at Wafra, a Kuwaiti state-backed investment firm in New York City. “Every building represents a confluence of what happened in the past and where people envisioned the future.” An MBA at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, Washington DC, in 2014 helped lay the foundations of his career in property….Matthew Cypher, director of the Steers Center, adds there will be jobs in acquisitions too: “In a recession, if you have money, you’ll be feasting on assets with low prices.
