Insurance and Behavioral Economics: Improving Decision in a Misunderstood Industry, Mar. 15
The Center for Business and Public Policy at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will present “Insurance and Behavior Economics: Improving Decisions in the Most Misunderstood Industry.”
The business, economics, and policy seminar will feature Howard Kunreuther, professor of decision sciences and public policy at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and co-director of the Wharton Risk Management and Decision Processes Center, and William Topetta, senior adviser at Promontory Financial Group.

Global Conference on Trade Policy and International Marketing Focuses on Transatlantic Partnership, March 14-15
Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and the American Marketing Association, with the support of the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, will present “Trade Policy and International Marketing: Breakthroughs on the Horizon.” The conference is a collaboration of business, policy, and academic participants from around the world.

Georgetown McDonough Undergrads Shine at Investment Competition
On January 10, 2013, Georgetown University McDonough School of Business seniors Charles Kim, Yuchen Liu, Oltan Akin, and Yi-Hsien Ho participated in the National Investment Banking Competition and Conference, run by students at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business in Vancouver, Canada.

Three Georgetown Students Drafted to Major League Soccer
Three Georgetown seniors were drafted to Major League Soccer (MLS), making Georgetown one of only two universities with the most seniors selected from one team. Georgetown McDonough's Tommy Muller was a No. 15 pick for the San Jose Earthquakes, and Ian Christianson was a No. 23 pick for the New York Red Bulls. Georgetown College's Jimmy Nealis was a No. 37 pick to the Houston Dynamo.

On Friday, February 9, John Idol, CEO of Michael Kors, spoke to students at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business on the topics of accessible luxury and maintaining strategic focus in business. The event was sponsored by Georgetown Aspiring Minority Business Leaders & Entrepreneurs (G.A.M.B.L.E.), with co-sponsorship from the Georgetown McDonough Undergraduate Program Office, McDonough Retail and Luxury Association (MRLA), the McDonough Global Student Association, and the Undergraduate Marketing Association.

Smart Start: A Springboard for Success
Smart Start was launched this fall at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business to prepare first- and second-year business undergraduates for academic and professional success. The year-long academic and professional development program was organized through the Undergraduate Program Office and serves students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Students Participate in Weekend of Service to Others
On Saturday, January 19, Thirty-three Georgetown McDonough students joined more than 300 students from the university and Ward 7 community members to participate in a day of community service as part of Weekend of Service. The national event was organized by the Corporation for National Service, a federal organization that leads the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and the President's Day of Service on Inauguration Weekend.

Entrepreneurship Fellows Program Accepting Applications
The Entrepreneurship Fellows Program was designed specifically for undergraduate students with an interest in further exploring entrepreneurship. Applications are currently being accepted for the third cohort of Entrepreneurship Fellows; the deadline to apply is March 1.

Month of Volunteerism Nominated for Team MBA Award
The Month of Volunteerism (MOV) initiative at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has been nominated for the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC)’s annual Team MBA award. The Team MBA award will recognize an outstanding project that has made a difference beyond the classroom at the annual GMAC conference in June.
