MBAs Place Third in Competitive Consulting Case Competition

On October 17, three Georgetown McDonough School of Business MBA students placed third in the fourth annual Cognizant Business Consulting (CBC) Case Competition held at University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business. Ritij Kapoor, Liz Sloss, and Shantanu Shukla won $1,000 in prize money, beating students from top universities around the country.

The purpose of the competition was to develop a novel application of Code Halos — Cognizant’s term for the information that surrounds people, organizations, and devices — to a business challenge facing the healthcare, technology, or insurance industry. To qualify, participants had to submit their business case proposals for a competitive first round deliberation. From there, finalists were invited to the University of Maryland to present their proposals to CBC judges. Other competing schools included Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, New York University’s Stern School of Business, University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, and University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business students took home the top prize of $4,000.
