MiM Program’s Career Services Help Students Achieve their Professional Goals

Careers in the Master of Science in Management (MiM) Program start even before the program begins. Housed in Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, the program offers personalized career services to help students achieve and excel in their professional lives.

“Looking back at my time at Georgetown McDonough, I can say that the most significant driver in getting my dream job at LinkedIn was the career guidance throughout the MiM Program,” said Caline Zakher (MiM’21). “The one-to-one help from both my MBA peer advisor and my career advisor were invaluable. With their help, I completely revamped my resume and formulated a very compelling story that made me more confident than ever during interviews.”

A key component of the MiM Career Services Office is providing MBA student mentors for each new student in the program —  an offering often not seen in other MBA programs. These mentors serve as career coaches who help students polish their resumes, conduct mock interviews, connect with alumni, and offer advice through each aspect of the job hunt.

Additionally, the career team provides a combination of services such as career coaching, career treks, and alumni access to ensure MiM students are supported throughout every stage of their job recruitment process.

The MiM student experience includes access to a diverse, distinguished network of more than 200,000 Georgetown University alumni around the world. Alumni have the opportunity to join professional alliances and over 50 regional alumni clubs on six continents. Karen Kouagou, director of MiM Career Services, explains the emphasis on career clarification and supporting the career journey of international students, using her global experiences and perspective to assist students in navigating the career recruitment process.

“The business foundation students receive in the MiM program sets them up for success in any work environment. Career Services partners with students to develop a compelling story and create an effective and customized job search strategy,” said Kouagou.

Mentorship is a key part of the program — seen throughout the curriculum, student activities, one-one-one peer guidance, and career assistance. The MiM Program is an accelerated, 10-month, STEM-designated program that provides a foundation in business with a unique focus on technology and innovation.

“I’m positive that I wouldn’t have been where I am today without the MiM program and couldn’t be more grateful,” said Zakher.
