Catherine Langlois

Professor Langlois, an economist and game theorist, is interested in conflict and cooperation, the structuring of international agreements, alliances, strategic counter-terror, cultural issues and bargaining. Her current research investigates rational bargaining behavior in conflict situations, the relationship between power and ally behavior, and the design of effective counter-terror strategies. She has published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly and the British Journal of Political Science.

Professor Langlois is a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner and has served as the ombudsman for faculty on main campus for ten years. She also served as Deputy Editor of the Journal of International Business Studies and Associate Editor of Conflict Management and Peace Science. She is currently Senior Editor of International Studies Quarterly. She was awarded a Dean’s fellow for research in 2003 and 2014, and received a Dean’s course development award in 2006. She visited Chile in 2004 as a Fulbright Senior Specialist. She was elected President of the Peace Science Society for the year 2015-2016.

Professor Langlois is an active faculty member in the Global course for the day- time MBA program and has taught an elective course in game theory for managers. Professor Langlois received “Best Professor at Georgetown” mention in Business Week Online and has been nominated for the distinguished teaching award by the MBA class on several occasions.
