Allison Koester is an Associate Professor of Accounting and Dean's Research Fellow at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Koester’s research considers how taxation, economic incentives, legislation, and regulation shape corporate economic activity and outcomes. She has published scholarly articles in leading academic journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Journal of Law and Economics, Management Science, and Review of Accounting Studies. Her research has been featured in Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) releases (here and here ) and a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report (here ), as well as media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, ProMarket.org, and Huffington Post. Her research has been selected for presentation at more than 90 academic institutions and conferences.
Koester has taught corporate financial reporting to 3,000+ graduate students in Georgetown’s MBA and EMBA programs. She has been recognized as a Poets & Quants ‘Favorite EMBA Professor ’ (2024), ‘Favorite MBA Professor ’ (2020), and ‘40-under-40 Most Outstanding Business School Professor ’ (2016). At Georgetown she is the recipient of the MBA Excellence in Teaching Award (2024 & 2019), the Joseph F. Lemoine Award for Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching Excellence (2020), and the Ronald L. Smith Distinguished Service Award (2014).
