Flex MBA Curriculum
Sample 3-year Course Plan
Year 1
- The program starts with an Opening Term core course:
- Structure of Global Industries, 3 credits (the first program residency is part of this course.)
- Fall Semester
- After the end of Opening Term, students will take two core courses at a time. For the fall semester, these courses include:
- Managerial Statistics, 3 credits (Full semester)
- Leading Teams for Performance and Impact, 1.5 credits (First half of the semester)
- Accounting Fundamentals, 1.5 credits (Second half of the semester)
- After the end of Opening Term, students will take two core courses at a time. For the fall semester, these courses include:
- Spring Semester
- Students will continue the pattern of taking two core courses at a time during the spring semester. These courses include:
- Marketing Analysis & Customer Strategy 3 credits (Full semester)
- Corp. Financial Reporting 1.5 credits (First half of the semester)
- Financial Analysis for Managers & Investors 1.5 credits (Second half of the semester)
- Students will continue the pattern of taking two core courses at a time during the spring semester. These courses include:
- Summer
- Students take the following two core courses during the one summer module:
- Operations 1.5 credits
- Leadership Communications 1.5 credits
- Students take the following two core courses during the one summer module:
Year 2
- Students begin their second year with the Business & Policy in a Global Economy core course, 1.5 credits
- This is the second program residency.
- Fall Semester
- Students resume taking two courses at a time during the fall semester. These courses include:
- Financial Markets & Corp Decision Making, 3 credits (Full semester)
- Ethical Leadership, 1.5 credits (Second half of the semester)
- Elective, 1.5 credits (Second half)
- Students resume taking two courses at a time during the fall semester. These courses include:
- Spring Semester
- Students will also take 3 ILE credits in between the first and second halves of this semester.
- During the first half of the semester, students take the following core courses:
- Firm Analysis and Strategy, 1.5 credits (Full semester)
- Analytical Problem Solving, 1.5 credits (First half of the semester)
- During the second half of the semester, students complete Firm Analysis and Strategy and choose an elective for 1.5 credits.
- Summer
- During the summer, students complete their Global Business Experience, 3 credits. This includes the third residency, which involves international travel.
Year 3
- Fall Semester
- During the fall semester, students take two electives at a time in both the first and second halves of the semester.
- Each elective is 1.5 credits.
- Spring Semester
- Students will take a 1.5 credit Intensive Learning Experience (ILE) course before the start of spring semester classes.
- Students take two electives at a time in both the first and second halves of the semester.
- Each elective is 1.5 credits.
- Students can also take 3 ILE credits in between the first and second halves of this semester.
The MBA curriculum is composed of 31.5 credits of required core courses and 22.5 credits of electives, including Intensive Learning Experiences (ILEs). Semesters include 12 weeks of class plus midterm and final exam periods. Half-semesters, or modules, include 6 weeks of class plus a final exam period.
No more than 12 credits can be earned through ILEs. ILEs are offered for 1.5 or 3 credits in January, March, and July/August.
Students can take a third class in any module after their first semester to speed up their degree completion. Students can take on-campus electives or ILEs if they can attend all class sessions in person.
