Dr. Ammerman is Assistant Teaching Professor of Finance and Director of Academic Operations for the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) Program. Dr. Ammerman has taught courses in corporate finance, valuation, risk management, and personal finance at the graduate and undergraduate levels. As a teacher, Dr. Ammerman's mission is to encourage students to love wisdom, and to pursue truth and excellence. Dr. Ammerman's goal is for his students to develop an intuitive understanding of core financial concepts, mastery of fundamental skills, and an analytical mind. He is specifically interested in "brain based" approaches to teaching, which emphasize findings from neuroscience oriented toward cognition and memory formation.
Dr. Ammerman has published and presented research on topics related to household finance and family economics. He received the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) Outstanding Research Journal Article of the Year in 2018, and the CFP Board Financial Planning Paper Award at the 2017 meeting of the American Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI). Prior to his academic career, Dr. Ammerman accumulated over 10 years of financial management experience, including service as a financial management officer in the United States Marine Corps.
