Six Degrees: Redefining Futures

Tatiana Jeromskaia (MBA’05)
As the founding partner and president of Avyance – an award-winning women-owned management consulting firm recognized on the Inc 5000 fastest growing list – Tatiana Jeromskaia (MBA’05) built her career on the power of Georgetown connections.
Her decision to pursue an MBA was shaped early in her career at AOL, where she worked alongside Jan Brandt, Ted Leonsis (C’77, P’14, ’15), and Glenn Eisen (B’87, P’25).
“Working alongside Ted and Glenn at AOL opened my eyes to the kind of talent that came out of Georgetown. They were business-savvy and deeply engaged with the community,” said Jeromskaia. “Seeing the way they carried themselves made me think, ‘If I’m going to get an MBA, it has to be from a place like that.’”
She also credits Jan Brandt for helping push past the hesitations as a woman in business. Brandt, the former chief marketing officer and vice chair emeritus, solidified the importance of an MBA for long-term success. Brandt was one of the few women Jeromskaia knew at the time with business credentials at that level.
“Jan showed me that women can thrive in male-dominated industries and fields that may feel daunting at first. Her example proved that confidence and perseverance open doors,” she said.
An Initial Spark
Before her first semester at Georgetown, Jeromskaia attended a welcome event for incoming MBAs in Washington, D.C. There, she met Thomas Jeppesen (MBA’05) and Neil Moloney (MBA’05). They became lifelong friends.
Through Georgetown’s international buddy system, she met Alex Gilev (MBA’05). “I helped him get oriented in the D.C. area, and, later on, navigate the interview process. Eventually, our friendship turned into one of the most meaningful relationships I made in the program,” she recalled.
These early connections would later become the foundation of her consulting firm, Avyance.
Early Consulting Career
Jeromskaia began her consulting career at Booz Allen Hamilton, working alongside fellow Georgetown alumni Julie Cline-Fernandez (MBA’03) and Mary Ann Melkonian (B’01, MBA’08).
“Julie Cline was one of the first people I met at Booz Allen,” she said. “She became a mentor as we worked together on a USAID Armenia project during my first year. That experience set the tone for my career at Booz Allen.”
Seed Support
After more than a decade in consulting, Jeromskaia considered launching her own venture – an idea encouraged by former Georgetown classmates.
“In conversations with Thomas Jeppesen and Alex Gilev, they encouraged me to consider running my own business,” said Jeromskaia. “They went above and beyond – helping with business planning, providing initial financial support, and advising us throughout the process.”
In 2017, Jeromskaia founded Avyance with her friend and business partner, Sarah Jeppesen.
Avyance is a management consulting firm specializing in the future of work, focusing on strategic planning, digital transformation, and process improvement for federal, commercial, state, and nonprofit clients. The company has grown from a two-person startup to a 45-employee firm, advising agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration, National Gallery of Art, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Department of the Treasury.
“Strategy without implementation is hallucination,” Jeromskaia said. “We don’t just advise — we help our clients execute, making technology work for the people using it.”
Known for its hands-on approach and strong workplace culture, Avyance has grown rapidly, earning recognition on Inc. Magazine’s 2023 Best Workplaces list and the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies.
The Hoya Network in Action
Jeromskaia credits the relationships she built at Georgetown for shaping both her career and her company, whether it was through the courses she took or the connections she made throughout the program.
“Our business would not have existed if it weren’t for the Georgetown connections. It would have been difficult to take this giant leap without the support, the advice, and the knowledge I gained here, and most of all, the people.”
Today, she aims to carry the support forward. Jeromskaia hired several Hoyas to the Avyance team and she continues to stay active in the Hoya community, most recently by mentoring Georgetown students as they chart their own paths.
