One McDonough Programming

Guidance Timed to the Pulse of the Job Market

Students have access to numerous workshops and programs to provide real-time job search support and timely advice, whether during formal recruitment, just-in-time hiring, or somewhere in between. Workshops and programs include our signature career fair and networking bootcamp, several week-long event series designed to maximize outcomes at crucial parts of the year, weekly industry-focused career days in the fall, and more.

World Class Speakers

We have proudly hosted a range of notable speakers, from experts like Jeremy Schifeling of The LinkedIn Guys to alumni like CEO and Founder of Salary Transparent Street Hannah Williams (MSB’19) and CEO and Founder of BrandMirror Jen Dalton (MSB’99, EMBA’12). We also regularly host alumni and recruiter panels, enabling students to learn directly from their target companies.

National Organization and Diversity Career Fairs

The McDonough Career Center proudly supports organizations that promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce. These organizations hold conferences every year and offer some of the largest career fairs in the country. We hold a Career Fair Boot Camp annually in September to prepare students, and we provide on-site coaching for our students at several large national affinity conferences. Resources for International Students

At McDonough, we pride ourselves on providing a global experience. That includes extensive career support for students from outside the United States. International students will find workshops and advising to support the networking, hiring, and visa application processes that are key to finding employment within the United States or globally. Several of our programs include eligibility to pursue a STEM designation along with a degree, which may provide international students with three years of work experience under OPT.

We have designated a set of lessons and deliverables that will prepare you for the important stages in the job search, focusing on:

The remainder of the career course covers topics such as personal branding, networking, job search communication, interviewing, and recruitment timelines. This content is delivered in a virtual format during the summer prior to the start of fall classes.

For Specialty Masters Students

The career directors for McDonough’s specialized masters programs provide comprehensive career and professional development services tailored to the needs of each student population. Our career teams for the Master of Science in Management (MiM), Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability Management (MS-ESM), Master of Science in Global Real Assets (MS-GRA), Master of Science in Finance (MSF), Master of Arts in International Business and Policy (MA-IBP) and Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) programs provide one-on-one career coaching to help students explore career strategy, gain access to top recruiters and employers, receive mentorship support, and build their personal brand.

For Executive MBA Students

The Executive MBA Careers team supports each student in the Executive MBA (EMBA) and Executive MBA Dubai programs with support, coaching, and guidance throughout their Georgetown journey. We help students understand their values, leadership style, motivation, and aspirations, explore their options, make meaningful career connections, and crystalize their career narrative and personal branding while also preparing for a career move.

Located in the Hariri Building Suite 285, the McDonough Career Center is open Mondays through Thursdays, 8 am – 7 pm*, and Fridays, 8 am – 5:30 pm.
