The Booz Allen Hamilton and Georgetown McDonough Partnership

Illuminating the path for transformative leadership and sustainable success.

In the ever-evolving landscape of business, change is the only constant. Recognizing the pivotal role that change management plays in organizational success, Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading management consulting and technology firm, joined forces with Georgetown McDonough to create a groundbreaking initiative—the Change Management Advanced Practitioners (CMAP) Program. This program, born out of collaboration and innovation, aims to equip executives with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of change effectively.

About Booz Allen

With a rich history of providing management consulting, technology, and engineering services, Booz Allen Hamilton has established itself as a key player in the U.S. government, serving defense, intelligence, civil markets, and major corporations. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, Booz Allen boasts a global presence with offices in 12 countries and a workforce exceeding 24,000 dedicated professionals.

The CMAP Program, a Comprehensive Approach

The CMAP Program is a testament to the commitment of Booz Allen Hamilton and Georgetown McDonough to foster excellence in change management. Developed to expose executives to major frameworks, tools, and methodologies, CMAP goes beyond theoretical knowledge. The program delves into the practical application of these concepts, providing guidance on when and how to apply them effectively.

CMAP is a graduate-level change management program that integrates faculty and practitioner expertise in core change disciplines, including leadership, culture, human capital management, strategy, and operations. This unique blend of academic and real-world knowledge sets CMAP apart, offering participants a well-rounded understanding of change dynamics.

The intensive nine-day program unfolds over five months, providing participants with an immersive learning experience. Notably, 50% of the program content is delivered by Georgetown faculty, ensuring a strong theoretical foundation. The remaining 50% comes from Booz Allen practitioners, bringing practical insights and industry-specific perspectives.

Program Impact and Participant Testimonial

Since its inception in 2009, the CMAP program has empowered nearly 1,000 participants to become change management experts. Covering topics such as business and change strategy, leadership and change, and human capital management, the program equips executives with the tools needed to lead their organizations through transformative periods.

Scott Barr, senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, emphasizes the importance of the partnership with Georgetown, stating, “When we first started these discussions with Georgetown, it was important to Booz Allen that we weren’t going to fit into a pre-prescribed mold. We wanted to have a voice. Georgetown has been an incredible partner, listening to us and learning what our vision is, feeding into that vision, and giving us ideas.”

Booz Allen Hamilton and Georgetown’s collaboration has resulted in a pioneering initiative that transcends traditional boundaries. The CMAP program stands as a testament to the power of partnerships in driving innovation and excellence in leadership education. As organizations continue to navigate the complexities of change, the CMAP program serves as a beacon, illuminating the path for transformative leadership and sustainable success.
