MA-IBP Student Experience

MA-IBP Cohorts

The Master of Arts in International Business and Policy (MA-IBP) cohort structure allows students to build a shared interactive learning experience that emphasizes collaboration, leadership, and enriching discussions among a diverse group of working professionals. Our program’s unique module delivery allows for a dynamic and focused learning environment with the ability to maintain full-time employment. Our small class size ensures that participants learn as much from one another as they do from their professors and that they create meaningful relationships along the way.

Class Profile

The average MA-IBP cohort is composed of a diverse group of 30-40 students with varied professional, academic, and personal experiences. Below is the profile of the 2023 cohort of our MA-IBP program.

With numerous cultures, diverse perspectives, and inputs from all of the world, strangers who work in different sectors across the globe, whom otherwise you may have never had the opportunity to speak with or cross paths with, become your family and further enrich the classroom experience.

Structure for Working Professionals

The MA-IBP program is structured so that students maintain full-time employment while also having an immersive in-person experience through six full-time in person modules. During the in-person modules, students will forge strong relationships with their cohort, faculty, and the broader Georgetown community while taking courses from approximately 9am-6pm each day.

Outside of the in-person modules, students will have two four-week online courses. During online courses, there is one synchronous 90-minute session per week, and students otherwise learn asynchronously according to their own schedules. This structure provides students with the flexibility and balance of virtual learning alongside an experiential in-person education.

The Alumni Experience

At Georgetown McDonough, we believe leaders never graduate. This thinking has inspired our idea of life-long engagement, which supports our students’ professional and personal growth. Georgetown’s MA-IBP alumni have the opportunity to extend their learning and attain new business competencies for a lifetime. Through life-long engagement, alumni may engage in educational opportunities offered by the Graduate and Executive Degree programs at the McDonough School of Business. Reconnect with faculty and peers while extending your professional network outside of your program and cohort.
