Undergraduate Class of 2029 Begins Their Transformative Experience at Georgetown McDonough
Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business recently welcomed 322 undergraduate students from around the world to embark on an educational journey rooted in experiential learning, a global mindset, and ethical leadership.
The Class of 2029 hails from 35 U.S. states and 24 countries, including Brazil, China, India, Panama, and South Korea. The top states represented include California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
“We are thrilled to welcome a new cohort of students who bring an array of academic and global perspectives to Georgetown,” said Patricia Grant, senior associate dean of Undergraduate Programs. “At Georgetown McDonough, we believe that business has no borders. Through our curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, and collaborative community, we prepare our students to be ethical leaders on the global stage.”
This year’s incoming class demonstrates tremendous academic excellence, with average mid-50% SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing scores of 735, SAT Math of 750, and ACT scores of 33.5. On average, admitted students placed in the top 6% of their high school class.
Georgetown McDonough continues to be ranked as one of the top undergraduate programs in the country and combines a rigorous curriculum with experiential learning experiences that prepare students to make a positive impact in the world. The Class of 2024 reported exceptional employment results after graduation, with 96.3% of job-seeking students receiving an offer within three months of graduation.
“The Class of 2029 brings a unique blend of academic talent, energy, curiosity, and ambition that enriches our classrooms and campus community,” Grant said. “This new cohort represents the next generation of global business leaders, and we look forward to supporting their growth through curricular and co-curricular programming, as well as their whole-person development.”
Georgetown McDonough is distinguished by its location in the global capital city of Washington, D.C., access to the broader academic community within Georgetown University, and values-based approach to business, rooted in its Jesuit heritage. Within the Undergraduate Programs, students gain a D.C. advantage with access to leaders and organizations spanning business, policy, government, diplomacy, nonprofits, and startups. Students complete the Georgetown liberal arts core in addition to their business studies to emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to education.
With a commitment to global business education, undergraduate students have the opportunity to apply to the Global Business Fellows program in addition to McDonough’s signature Global Business Experience (GBE) elective, where they consult for an organization abroad and then travel to the country to present their findings to executives. Students also participate in unique global case competitions with universities from around the world as well as McDonough’s First Year Seminar Social Impact Consulting Project, where students collaborate with a local nonprofit to develop strategic business solutions.
Additionally, the Undergraduate Programs offer a variety of opportunities to nurture students’ personal growth – including Bagels with the Deans to connect with undergraduate advising deans and program staff, and the H.O.M.E. program, an off-campus overnight experience designed to foster reflection, build skills, and create community beyond the Hilltop.
