Georgetown EMBA Class of 2026 Surpasses Diversity Records
The Executive MBA D.C. (EMBA D.C.) program at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business welcomed 60 students this fall, significantly increasing its representation of women and U.S. underrepresented minorities and maintaining a strong class with international experience.
This year’s incoming class nearly reaches gender parity at 47% (up from 32% in 2023) and represents 45% U.S. underrepresented minorities (up from 33%). With a strong global presence, over 70% of the cohort has international experience and represents 12 different countries.
“We are pleased to welcome one of the most diverse classes in EMBA program history, which further strengthens the varied perspectives and experiences students gain throughout the program,” said Nita Swinsick, associate dean for graduate and executive program admissions at Georgetown McDonough. “Characterized by our close-knit cohorts and immersive global experiences, the Class of 2026 will have the opportunity to learn in class and from one another as they grow together and launch the next phase of their careers.”
Based in Washington, D.C., the EMBA program continues to have a strong military presence with 32% entering the program with a military background. A large portion of the class also holds advanced degrees (38%) with 13 years of professional work experience. This year’s cohort represents many different industries, including government, consulting, education, financial services, healthcare, nonprofit/social impact, and technology and new media.
The cohort also brings a varied background in academic study, with undergraduate degrees in social and behavior sciences, engineering, business, arts and humanities, economics, and physical and earth sciences, among several others.
“Georgetown’s EMBA program is distinct because of our global student body, access to the capital city of Washington, D.C., and our interdisciplinary curricular experiences,” said Nick Lovegrove, academic director of the EMBA program and professor of the practice at Georgetown McDonough. “We are excited to work with such a distinctive and diverse class as we continue on this mission and help them reach their unique academic and professional goals.”
The EMBA program was recently ranked in the top 10 in the United States and top 50 globally by the Financial Times, driven by strong career outcomes, alumni satisfaction, and international representation across the program. Among the listed categories, the D.C.-based program was listed among U.S. schools as 2nd (and 5th globally) for overall program satisfaction; 3rd for alumni network; and 4th for career progress and courses dedicated to environment, social, and governance concerns.
The incoming class is among the first to leverage the program’s new hybrid course format, which delivers the same top-ranked, rigorous degree curriculum with the added convenience of synchronous courses. Students attend in-person classes one weekend per month with online sessions one Saturday per month, in addition to five week-long signature experiences throughout the 21-month program.
