Georgetown MBA Welcomes Most Selective and Diverse Incoming Classes

Full-time and Flex MBA students entering Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business this fall have increased the school’s average GMAT scores and include more underrepresented and diverse students than last year’s record-setting classes.

“As the global reputation of the Georgetown MBA continues to grow, we are pleased to enroll our most selective and diverse classes in the school’s history,” said Shelly Heinrich, associate dean for MBA admissions. “Welcoming diverse cohorts of students has been important to the student experience of our MBA for the past four decades, allowing students to continue to learn from one another now and into the future.”

For the Full-time MBA program, the average GMAT score increased 14 points, from 691 to 705, making this year’s class the most selective in program history. The school also saw a 10% increase in applications, a 7% increase in yield, and a 9% improvement in the selectivity rate.

A total of 20% of the students are underrepresented minorities, up from 19% last year, and U.S. diversity increased from 38% to 40% — both also the highest ratios recorded for the program. The enrollment of women was steady at 32%, and the international student representation increased from 28% to 37%. This year’s class represents 37 different countries.

For the Flex MBA, underrepresented minority students increased from 12% to 19%, and U.S. diversity increased from 31% to 34%. The program also maintained its enrollment of 44% women and increased the number of countries represented from 16 to 18.
