Georgetown MSF Program Welcomes its Largest Class
The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business welcomed its largest entering class in program history, with 174 students, 83 of whom are full-time, an increase of 69% from last year.
The program has grown from its initial class of 39 students in 2014 to 324 students—across both classes in this two-year program—at the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year.
“My colleagues and I are especially proud that we have achieved this growth while maintaining high admission standards,” said Allan Eberhart, senior associate dean, MSF program, and professor of finance. “We are also excited by the growth in our full-time option, the diversity of our students’ backgrounds, and the return to our students attending class in person in our Blended Classroom.”
With options to complete the program on a part-time or full-time basis, Georgetown McDonough’s MSF program attracts a broad range of students. This year’s work experience range is zero to 31 years, with an average of five years and an average age of 28. Additionally, 23% of the class is female, 38% did not major in business or economics in their undergraduate program, and 12% already hold a master’s degree. The underrepresented minority student enrollment is 26% and the U.S.
diversity is 44%. The average GMAT score is 683 and the average undergraduate GPA is 3.3.
“The Class of 2023 brings together a dynamic group of students eager to learn and develop technical skills, as well as methods for in-depth application of finance principles to their professional and personal lives,” said Luke Weichbrod, senior director of operations, MSF program.
The MSF program combines interactive asynchronous course content with weekly live classes (synchronous sessions) to create an unrivaled blended experience for students. The program’s Blended Classroom empowers students to attend class in-person or online and receive the same educational experience. The program also offers a dedicated career services team that helps students advance in their current organization or transition to a new job during or after the program.
