New M.S. in Global Real Assets Cohort Arrives to Lead the Future of Real Estate and Infrastructure

The second cohort of M.S. in Global Real Assets (MS-GRA) students arrived at Georgetown McDonough this fall to learn how to address real-world challenges in real estate, infrastructure, and sustainability and improve investment performance for organizations worldwide.

In addition to representing a wide range of professional interests, this year’s MS-GRA class is 21% women, a 6% increase from last year’s cohort. The class also brings a strong academic background with a median undergraduate GPA of 3.48. A program designed for aspiring professionals in the real estate industry, the average age of the Class of 2025 is 24 years old and they have an average of 1.5 years of professional experience.

“Our innovative MS-GRA program not only addresses the growing demand for expertise in this dynamic field, but it also equips our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to translate their experiences into meaningful career opportunities,” said Nita Swinsick, associate dean of Graduate and Executive Degree Programs Admissions.

As a unique collaboration between Georgetown McDonough and the Steers Center for Global Real Estate, the year-long, full-time program offers a cutting-edge curriculum that integrates coursework and hands-on experiences focused on real estate, infrastructure, global capital flows and finance, and issues of sustainability. Students progress through a series of courses to learn how to make investment decisions across all areas of the built environment and then gain real-world experience working with organizations to underwrite live deals during real estate clinics. The program also includes a Global Experience, where students embark on a week-long experiential learning opportunity (last year they traveled to Stockholm, Sweden) to network with industry professionals and experience the dynamics of global real assets in another country.

Through the Steers Center, MS-GRA students benefit from experiential learning opportunities, individualized attention from professors and career advisors, and an extensive alumni and professional network. In addition to guest lectures throughout the year, the Steers Center hosts the annual Real Estate Luminaries Series, convening industry professionals, alumni, and students to take part in discussions shaping the commercial real estate landscape. The incoming MS-GRA students also can participate in a structured mentorship program to gain meaningful investment insights from industry experts, the Global Real Assets Student Club, guest lectures, and networking events.
