Georgetown Entrepreneurship Names 2018-19 Entrepreneurs-in-Residence
Georgetown Entrepreneurship, serving all of Georgetown University from the McDonough School of Business, recently named its eighth annual cohort of Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.
These entrepreneurs and investors spend time on the Georgetown University campus throughout the academic year to advise both undergraduate and graduate students on starting their own companies.
The 18 Entrepreneurs-in-Residence for 2018-19 are:
Laura Clark, an experienced retail entrepreneur and communications executive, who founded Wylie Wagg, a regional retail chain, and was the company’s chief executive officer until its acquisition by a large national retailer in late 2016.
David Fogel (F’93, L’97, MBA’97), co-founder and senior advisor of IndexIQ, a pioneer and leading provider of innovative ETF solutions focused on liquid alternatives, fixed income, international, factor-investing, and real asset strategies.
Talia Fox, CEO of KUSI training, a global transformational leadership development firm.
Shye Gilad (EMBA’12), co-founder and managing partner of ProJet Aviation, an award-winning aviation hospitality company that helps people accomplish extraordinary things through the wonder of private flight.
Patricia Henriques, a relationship-driven entrepreneur who founded and led Management Alternatives Inc. for 20 years from start-up to an industry-recognized, national leader in corporate relocation management.
John Jabara, founder of Savenia Labs, a company based in Maryland that reinvents appliance, electrical product, and home energy ratings so that individuals and businesses can assess lifetime energy costs and environmental impact prior to purchasing.
Jay Kenny (C’95), member of NextGen Venture Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm that is powered by a network of hundreds of part-time venture capitalists.
Fiona Macaulay, founder of a for-profit company and a social enterprise that between them had $30 million in revenue and offered products and services in 50 countries.
Mike Malloy (C’12), currently leads the Halcyon Incubator and was the chief executive officer at Waveborn Sunglasses, a company that changes how people see the world by selling luxury Italian sunglasses and donating 10 percent of the profits to fund life-changing cataract surgeries.
Peter Mellen (C’89, MBA’98), an entrepreneur with 20 years of experience working in online business and commercial real estate. He is the founder of Netcito, a network of peer advisory groups for entrepreneurs, and owner of Mellen Investment Properties, a real estate investing firm that manages and invests in commercial properties.
Miguel Monteverde, a D.C. based tech and media executive. He is the founder and principal at Green Mountain Advisors, a firm that provides consulting services for early-stage companies.
Jill Monk, pioneer and early evangelist of edtech. In 1995, she founded one of the first and most highly rated education portals on the internet, which was venture-backed.
Meghan Roman (B’96), founder and principal of Stonerose Advisors, a Washington, D.C.-based public relations consultancy for technology companies and venture capital investors.
Mark Silverman (B’72, L’75), a venture investor and adviser at Westhaven Therapeutics and Georgetown Translational Pharmaceuticals.
Marc Steren, co-director of the Georgetown University Summer Launch program. He is the National Federation of Independent Businesses 2015 entrepreneur educator of the year, the 2015 David S. Stone Excellence in Teaching award winner, and the founder of the Young Innovators program.
Dave Terzian (C’76), managing partner of Brand Strategy Partners, LLC, a boutique consulting group that specializes in the quick service and fast casual restaurant segment, with extensive resources to assist managers and entrepreneurs with brand development strategies and execution.
Tien Wong, an expert in technology and startups. He serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Tech2000, a provider of advanced technology training and mobile device software to government and Fortune 500 companies; chairman of Lore Systems, an internet technology professional services company; and chairman of Opus8, a private investment and strategic advisory firm.
Khuram Zaman, chief executive officer of Fifth Tribe, a digital agency that serves businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits.
