Georgetown Venture Lab Welcomes Georgetown Startup Accelerator’s Fall Cohort

The Georgetown Venture Lab launched its fall cohort of the Georgetown Startup Accelerator (GSA), a virtual, nine-week program, on Sept. 21st. 

The GSA brings together 13 early-stage startup companies founded by Georgetown University alumni, who will have access to the Venture Lab’s experienced network of mentors, peers, and top subject matter experts to accelerate their business. 21 founders are participating in the fall cohort, with a majority of the teams composed of female and/or minority founders. 

The fall cohort includes the following companies: 

AMO: AMO, Inc. is a sports nutrition brand that uses natural superfoods to formulate functional CPG products for athletes. AMO is based in Washington, D.C., and is led by Ayokunle Amoo (SCS‘20). 

Chili Maven: Chili Maven is on a mission to add magic to your meals with the flavor and fire of authentic Mexican condiments. It is based in London, United Kingdom, and led by Alexa Fernandez (MBA/MPP’05).

Civic: Civic is a new social platform for civic engagement and activism. Find ways to get involved in your community, connect with organizations, and fight for the causes you believe in. Civic is headquartered in New York, New York. Matias Burdman (C’21) and Thomas Connelly (SFS’21) are co-founders of the company. 

Enna Health: At Enna Health, augments oncology care through health tech solutions focused on patient reported outcomes that empower patients, caregivers, and clinicians. The Enna Health team includes Abdullah Abdulkareem, Nirmal Maitra (N’17, M’22), and Nikhil Maitra.

favordrop: Favordrop is a mobile application for restaurants to drive in customers on slow days, and for customers to send restaurant gift cards via mobile. The company is based in Buffalo, New York and is led by Conor McCarrick (NHS’17) and Jack Sardinia (NHS’17). 

IntimacyMoons: IntimacyMoons is the premier luxury couples retreat experience that partners with high-end hotels to provide guests with the psycho-emotional coaching and guidance needed from a licensed therapist to deepen emotional intimacy and take their renewed intimacy home with them. Intimacy Moons is based in Washington, D.C., and is led by Michael Nelson (C ’04, MA’05) and Marissa Nelson.

KnoNap: Through empowerment tools which enable discreet, rapid drug detection in beverages, and educational content, KnoNap works to empower, educate, and advocate against drug facilitated sexual assault and crime. It is based in Washington, D.C., led by Danya Sherman (MBA’21).

Manakii: Manakii is a social impact and sustainability-driven underwear company for women of all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, orientations. Sowmya Pelluru is the CEO and founder (SCS’20) of the company based out of Washington, D.C. 

Postbys: Postbys is a reverse-marketplace software as a service solution for the world’s trade show, convention and conference industry. It is based in Washington, D.C., and led by Anvar Brooks (C’18), Param Jaggi, and Erik Victorin (C’18).

Share Scoops: Share Scoops helps young people build the confidence to invest by engaging them with gamified news focused on corporations’ social and environmental impacts. It is based in New York, New York and led by Augustus Christensen (C’14).

Skye Coaching: For big changes and little challenges alike, Skye provides personalized coaching designed to accelerate your life and career. Skye is based in New York, New York, and led by Gabe Chen, Tony Lin (C’14), and Jessica Wolfe.

Sunroot Gifting: Sunroot Gifting Company is a mission-based eCommerce startup that curates gift boxes focused on celebrating human moments, sourced exclusively from independent makers and female-owned businesses. It is based in Rochester, New York and led by Maryn Cannon (B’18).

Wellness Without Borders: Wellness Without Borders is a web platform connecting Latin American Therapists with Spanish speakers in the U.S. based on shared interests, values, nationality, and mental health needs for no more than $40/hour. Alejandro Correa (C’19) is the founder of the company and is based out of Fairfield, Connecticut. 

The program will feature guest speakers such as Doug Bouton (C’07), chief executive officer, Halo Top International; Nitya Rajendran (C’14), senior associate, Tribeca Venture Partners, and many more. 
On November 16, the program culminates with a Demo Day featuring comments by Ted Leonsis (C’77, P’14, P’15), founder, chairman, principal partner, and chief executive officer of Monumental Sports and Entertainment, and presentations by each company showcasing their progress.
