McCabe Awarded Alpha Sigma Nu Magis Medal

Douglas McCabe, professor of management at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, recently was awarded the 2018 Magis Medal from Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

The Magis Medal was created in 2015 and honors Alpha Sigma Nu member who, entrenched in the Jesuit mission, best exemplify service in their work to better the world. Awardees contribute significantly to nonprofit organizations, many with Jesuit connections, which directly address social justice issues.

McCabe has advocated for social justice through his professional work. He was recognized for his involvement with the Dog Tag Inc. Fellowship Program, a partnership with Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies, which has helped veterans and military families transition into a successful civilian life since 2014. The program empowers the lives of veterans with service-connected disabilities, spouses, and caregivers and helps them gain an understanding of the business world, and perhaps more importantly, helps build their own confidence.

“The fellows population is unique and comes with an inherent set of challenges, primarily from service-related injury and recovery,” says McCabe. “It is a joy to work with them.”
