Georgetown EMBA Climbs to 10th in the Nation in Financial Times Ranking, 2nd for Program Satisfaction

Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business was recognized as a top 10 Executive MBA program in the United States and top 50 globally by the Financial Times, driven by strong career outcomes, alumni satisfaction, and international representation across the program. The school advanced to 10th nationally – up from 13th in 2023 – and 49th worldwide in the annual ranking of EMBA programs.

Among U.S. EMBA programs, Georgetown’s D.C.-based EMBA was ranked:

  • 2nd (and 5th globally) for overall program satisfaction;
  • 3rd (and 11th globally) for its alumni network;
  • 4th (and 18th globally) for career progress;
  • 4th for courses dedicated to environment, social, and governance (ESG) concerns;
  • 8th for work experience; and
  • 10th for salary increase.

“Our Executive MBA is known for extensive connections in Washington, D.C., immersive global experiences, and a close-knit community across the business school,” said Nick Lovegrove, academic director of the Executive MBA program and professor of the practice. “As a result of these ongoing efforts, we are pleased to see our program advance in the global Financial Times ranking for overall program satisfaction and the ability to help our graduates advance their careers.”

The Financial Times produces the EMBA ranking through surveys of alumni and business schools. Programs are evaluated on the following criteria: alumni salary figures and percentage salary increase, alumni career progress and aims achieved as a result of their degree, classroom time dedicated to ESG issues, the university’s carbon footprint, faculty research, the percentage of faculty with doctorates, percentage of international and women faculty members, student work experience, percentage of international and women students, international course experience, and the percentage of international and women board members.

The flexible EMBA D.C. program helps students build global business knowledge with unrivaled access to leaders in business, policy, and government. Steeped in a values-based education, EMBA students are prepared to solve critical challenges and leave a positive impact within their organizations and on their communities. The program curriculum features two signature global experiences – the global consulting project and a global capstone – designed to immerse them in international business on real-world business challenges.

The recent incoming cohort is the most diverse class in the program’s history and is the first to leverage the program’s new hybrid course format, which delivers the same top-ranked, rigorous degree curriculum with the added convenience of some synchronous courses. Students attend in-person classes one weekend per month with online sessions one Saturday per month, in addition to five week-long signature experiences throughout the 21-month program. The program also increased its electives to provide greater exposure to a variety of interdisciplinary concepts and to address emerging topics. Pulling from the school’s distinctive strengths in Washington, D.C., students also gain access to a variety of speakers, conferences, and events, including Georgetown McDonough’s 11 faculty-led centers and initiatives.
