Georgetown Entrepreneurship Announces Finalists of the Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize
Georgetown Entrepreneurship, serving all of Georgetown University from the McDonough School of Business, announces the finalists for the Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize.
Student and alumni entrepreneurs will pitch their ventures with the community at the second annual Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize “Bark Tank” pitch competition Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Finalists will try to win over a panel of judges and the audience to win a share of the $100,000 Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize.
The eight finalists are:
- BlueFoot: Ramya Possett (MBA’18) and Rachel Lee. BlueFoot is an enterprise SaaS company that marries Wall Street data with technology, product, and patent data to help companies make better strategic decisions.
- CAVALL: Juliette Silvain (B’20), Yechan Choi (C’20). CAVALL, which means horse in Catalan, is a mobile application that connects buyers and sellers of sport horses at competitions.
- Elenas: Zach Oschin (F’20). Elenas is a digital direct sales platform where Latin American women earn income selling beauty products in a modern and risk-free way.
- Farley Craig Capital LLC: Dennis F. Craig II (L’19), Royal Farley (SCS’15), Justin Mott. Farley Craig Capital is a diversity-focused fund that backs underrepresented founders and empowers new investors to participate in the venture capital ecosystem.
- Happy Price: Sahaj Sharda (SFS’20). Happy Price sells access to a dynamic pricing algorithm in order to help other businesses price their products in the most optimal way.
- M’Panadas: Margarita Womack (EMBA’19). M’Panadas fuses street foods, nutritional science, and modern American cuisine to make tasty, wholesome, portable foods to fuel people on the go.
- O2Wear: Shavini Fernando (G’18). O2Wear is an ear-wearable vital monitoring and emergency alert device that warns people when their vitals are out of normal range and contacts 911 to receive help.
- Truckr: Hannah Williams (B’19). Truckr is a mobile application that connects food trucks and customers to provide a more convenient and reliable food truck experience.
The six judges are:
- Kristen Gunther, vice president, Revolution Growth;
- Arun Gupta, venture partner, Columbia Capital;
- Richard Kay, chairman, Sentrillion Corporation;
- Michelle Freeman (P’13), owner and CEO, Carl M. Freeman Companies;
- Ted Leonsis (C’77, P’14, P’15), founder, chairman, and CEO, Monumental Sports & Entertainment;
- Zach Leonsis (MBA’15), vice president and general manager, Monumental Sports & Entertainment; and
- Steve Murray, managing partner, Revolution Growth.
Current Georgetown undergraduate and graduate students, as well as Georgetown alumni within six months of graduation, are eligible to win the prize and may be nominated as individuals or as teams. Georgetown’s Entrepreneurs-in-Residence provide valuable mentorship to the Leonsis prize recipients. Recipients of the prize are selected through a rigorous nomination, application, and review process.
The Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize is supported by Ted Leonsis (C’77), a longtime entrepreneur, investor, and founder, majority owner, chairman and chief executive officer of Monumental Sports & Entertainment; his wife, Lynn; his son, Zach (MBA’15), senior vice president of strategic initiatives of Monumental Sports & Entertainment and general manager of Monumental Sports Network; and his daughter, Elle (C’14), digital marketing director of SnagFilms, Inc.
