Former Nasdaq Executive Joins Leadership of Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy

John Jacobs, a longtime executive at Nasdaq, has been named the executive director of the Center for Financial Markets and Policy at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

As executive director, Jacobs is responsible for developing a comprehensive, multi-year strategic plan for the center. He will manage the growth and development of the center, including forging partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, and government; and collaborating with the other schools at Georgetown University. He also will make presentations to various organizations and potential partners.

“John brings invaluable corporate experience to the Georgetown Center for Financial Markets and Policy,” said Reena Aggarwal, Robert E. McDonough Professor of Business Administration and professor of finance, who will continue to lead the center. “His knowledge of global financial markets combined with his energy and passion for the markets will help the center tremendously.”

In his more than 30-year career at Nasdaq, Jacobs worked with institutional investors, IPOs, and top global public companies. Most recently, he was executive vice president of global information services and chief marketing officer, and oversaw the company’s data products and index business. He created and built the company’s index business that currently supports more than 7,000 products worth more than $1 trillion in notional value. He played a leadership role in helping Nasdaq become a global brand.

Jacobs earned an MBA from Loyola University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park.
