John Jabara

John Jabara is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Georgetown MSB and the Concentration Lead / Curriculum Adviser for Business & Entrepreneurship for the SCS Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies Program. He teaches Introduction to Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation.

John is also a Lecturer of Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland Clark School of Engineering. He teaches classes at the graduate and undergraduate level on Launching Technology Startups, Social Impact Enterprises and Global Entrepreneurship. His books ‘Mastering Customer Interviews for Entrepreneurs: The Fastest Way To Great Customer Feedback’ and 'Mastering Social Impact for Entrepreneurs: Transform Your Lean Startup With Social Impact' are used in startup classrooms and incubators / accelerators nationwide.

 

John started and ran large international operating divisions in the US, UK and Japan over 22 years for multinational healthcare company GlaxoSmithkline PLC. He has started and advised numerous companies in biotechnology, environmental science and other fields. He founded Savenia Labs after inventing the first ‘smart’ labeling system for appliance energy efficiency, reaching millions of consumers.

 

John was named Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 by the Maryland Clean Energy Center, and Savenia was named 2013 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year. In 2014, Savenia won the DOE SunShot Catalyst award for Innovation. In 2015 Savenia won a 2nd DOE SunShot Catalyst award, and was named ‘Best For Environment’ by the non-profit B-Lab from 2015-2017.
