Rahul Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the McDonough School of Business. Rahul's research seeks to explain phenomena affecting personnel and spatial organization of firms as well as impacts on workers through technological innovation. This research aims to have practical implications for business and public policy at the city and national levels.
Gupta's main research areas are in labor, organizational, and urban economics. Broadly speaking, he is interested in describing how firm behavior in local labor markets and organization impact outcomes such as income inequality, spatial clustering of economic activity, entrepreneurship, and technological change. Rahul is a Special Sworn Status researcher at the U.S. Census Bureau using tax and Census records on the universe of businesses and workers in ongoing projects related to entrepreneurship and innovation and firm dynamics.
Rahul earned his Ph.D. at Duke University, M.A. in economics from Boston University, and B.S. and B.A. degrees in finance, economics, and mathematics from Indiana University.
