Shye Gilad

Shye Gilad is Professor of the Practice in the Management Area at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. His teaching and applied scholarship focus on entrepreneurship, organizational leadership, crisis decision-making, and the integration of artificial intelligence into strategic management.

Prior to joining Georgetown, Gilad co-founded ProJet Aviation, a vertically integrated private aviation enterprise encompassing aircraft management, on-demand charter, maintenance, and flight-support operations. He served as Chief Executive Officer for 17 years, leading regulatory certification, capital formation, executive team development, and multiple acquisitions and divestitures. His leadership experience in highly regulated, safety-critical environments informs his academic work on disciplined decision-making, organizational culture, and governance under conditions of uncertainty.

A former airline captain and flight-training specialist, Gilad brings more than a decade of operational experience in high-reliability systems to his classroom teaching. His courses emphasize evidence-based frameworks, experiential learning, live simulations, and AI-enabled analytical tools designed to prepare students to scale organizations responsibly while preserving performance, trust, and institutional integrity.

Gilad is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. Through his leadership advisory practice, Creating Lift Leadership, he works with founders, nonprofit leaders, and senior executives on leadership development, value creation, and organizational design. This work complements his academic teaching by translating research-informed leadership frameworks into applied executive practice across private and mission-driven organizations.
