The McDonough School of Business has partnered with the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University Law Center, Georgetown University School of Medicine, and McCourt School of Public Policy to help meet the growing demand for business executives with additional cross-functional expertise.
Full-time MBA students enrolled in any dual degree program will have access to the career services, program advisors, and co-curricular opportunities provided to students of both schools, in addition to Georgetown’s global alumni network of more than 200,000 graduates worldwide.
Dual degree programs require a significant commitment above and beyond the requirements of the Full-time MBA Program. Candidates who are interested in dual degree programs must submit individual applications and materials to each school by the stated deadlines. The admissions processes are conducted separately and admissions decisions are made independently by the admissions committees of each school.

“The MBA/J.D. has dramatically increased the value of nearly every course I have taken, whether at the McDonough School of Business or the Law Center. For example, the cases presented in a corporate law class at the Law Center are more vivid and more easily understood thanks to MBA courses on the finance and strategy decisions driving each fact pattern. And in the MBA program, a course on the strategy of mergers and acquisitions, for example, is made more practical and more realistic having studied the mechanics of a contract or the litigation issues present in the M&A world. At this point, it seems to me that if I do not have a solid understanding of both the legal and business perspective of a problem, case, or transaction, I simply am not getting the whole picture.”

“The MBA portion of the MD/MBA dual degree program has been a remarkable and intensive experience full of new opportunities and growth. Georgetown McDonough trains one to have an analytical and problem-solving mindset, which coupled with the leadership and teamwork training will be incredibly helpful in bringing solutions to the table in an ever changing healthcare industry. Additionally, the friendships formed have been as valuable as the knowledge learned. Working with world-renowned professors and having classmates from all over the world are two of the greatest strengths of the program. I am confident that much of what I have gained at the business school will aid me in my career as a physician and will enhance opportunities to improve the healthcare system as a physician-leader.”

“The MBA-MSFS dual degree program truly has allowed me to push myself in my original area of academic and career emphasis (business) while still expanding my knowledge and skillset into another (international development). Academically, it balances breadth of topics covered with complementary skills, and professionally, it makes me a viable candidate for an even wider set of employers. Additionally, having the networks that both schools offer really provides me flexibility in my career search, both now and after school.”
