Application Procedure

The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University will begin to accept applications online in February for the 2008 Executive Master's in Leadership program.

To apply for the Master's program, the following items are required:

1. Program Application Form

The online application link will be added in February.  Appropriate essays, transcripts, forms and fees must be added before the application can be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and must be submitted by the apllication deadlines:

May 1 - for a decision by May 15

Aug 1 - for a decision by Aug 15

Nov 1 - for a decision by Nov 15

2. Application Fee

The non-refundable application fee of $175 can be submitted on line with the application.

3. Essays

Three (3) essays are required as part of the application:

ESSAY 1: Describe your most successful leadership experience. Explain how you led the process and achieved the stated objectives. What made it successful?

ESSAY 2: Describe a leadership experience you would qualify as a failure. How did you fail to meet your goals and objectives? What are your lessons learned?

ESSAY 3: How will receiving an Executive Master's in Leadership from Georgetown University allow you to achieve your professional goals?

4.Interview

Executive Master's candidates will be required to schedule an on-campus interview at Georgetown University . The interview allows admissions personnel a chance to meet each candidate to assess the candidate's motivation and suitability for the classwork. In addition, the interview gives the candidate the opportunity to offer additional information to support his or her application.

5. Official Transcripts

This program requires official transcripts of all work beyond secondary school prior to matriculation. Photocopied documents may not be used to fulfill this requirement. A document is official when submitted to the McDonough School of Business in a sealed envelope, signed across the seal by the appropriate academic officer. All transcripts must be translated into English if applicable.

6. Letters of Evaluation

Two (2) letters of evaluation are required and can be submitted electronically by the evaluators. One must be a professional evaluation from a superior or colleague who is familiar with your work and your leadership ability and potential. Georgetown University reserves the right to contact the recommenders for any applicant during the admissions process.

7. English Language Proficiency

All applicants who are not native English speakers are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement of the McDonough School of Business. Proficiency can be demonstrated by the receipt of a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university in another country where English is the primary language of instruction. All other non-native speakers must submit a TOEFL examination score report of at least 600. For information concerning the time and place where the TOEFL will be given, applicants should contact:

8. Current resume

This must be submitted by mail with a printed version of the application.

ADMISSION

Once all materials have been received and an application is considered complete, it will be considered for admission. Early application and registration are encouraged, as enrollment is limited and the program may fill before the published deadlines. Applicants will receive written notification of their status as soon as possible.
