Transferring Credit
Georgetown University receives more than 1,700 external transfer applications each year and offers admission to approximately 20 percent of those students. Accepted transfer students come from a variety of institutions, including community colleges and four-year universities. The average college GPA for an accepted transfer applicant is 3.7, and most transfer students were in the top 15 percent of their graduating high school class.
External transfer applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credits of college level coursework before they will be considered for admission. Internal transfer applicants must have completed one full year in their respective school before transferring. All transfer students are also expected to have an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. To apply for external transfer admission, please visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website.
AP Credit
Georgetown accepts some transfer credits earned through successful completion of Advanced Placement (AP) exams.
Refer to the AP Exam Policy Guide for a table of minimum AP exam scores necessary for credit to be accepted for transfer.
MSB Policy on Summer Courses
Any student who wishes to take a summer class away from Georgetown University must have the course pre-approved by their Academic Counselor in the Undergraduate Program Office. In order to have a class pre-approved, students must submit a syllabus and course description from the institution where the class will be offered. The MSB generally follows the following policies when determining evaluating syllabi for summer approval:

Students are expected to fulfill required business courses at Georgetown. Summer courses should be liberal arts requirements, electives, or enrichment offerings.
-
Students are expected to attend an accredited four-year institution for summer study. Community colleges are not accepted.
-
Students may transfer credit for a total of 12 credits (15 credits for class years 2011-2012 only) completed at non-Georgetown programs.
-
Students must receive a grade of a “C” or above to transfer credit from another institution (Remember – courses taken as pass-fail will not transfer nor will a “C-“).
-
Under no circumstances will online courses be approved for credit.
-

-
