Transferring Credit
Georgetown University receives more than 1,700 external transfer applications each year and offers admission to approximately 20 percent of those students. Accepted transfer students come from a variety of institutions, including community colleges and four-year universities. The average college GPA for an accepted transfer applicant is 3.7, and most transfer students were in the top 15 percent of their graduating high school class.
External transfer applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credits of college level coursework before they will be considered for admission. Internal transfer applicants must have completed one full year in their respective school before transferring. All transfer students are also expected to have an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. To apply for external transfer admission, please visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions website.
