Meet the Class of 2022: Angela Davis (EMBA’22) on Investing Time and Building Your Network

As the spring semester comes to a close, Georgetown McDonough is pleased to commemorate the accomplishments of the Class of 2022. This year’s graduating class demonstrated immense resiliency and determination to reach this milestone, and we are proud to recognize their achievements as they start their next chapter as Hoya alumni. To celebrate, Georgetown McDonough is spotlighting several of the exceptional students in the Class of 2022 as they share their personal stories, reflect on their time on the Hilltop, and preview what’s next after commencement.

As an Air Force officer, Angela Davis (EMBA’22) works at the intersection of government and business – perspectives she found to be directly applicable through her studies in Georgetown’s Executive MBA (EMBA) program. With the support of her classmates throughout the program, Davis is taking the lessons she learned at Georgetown to become a more effective leader in the military. Davis reflected on her favorite moments from the program and her advice for the next cohort of EMBA students at Georgetown. 

What is your favorite memory or proudest moment from your time at Georgetown?

My favorite is meeting my classmates after being in a virtual environment for a year. Working closely with others was such a big part of the Georgetown experience for me.  

How do you plan to apply the skills you have learned at Georgetown in the next phase of your career?

I’m an Air Force officer, and my work resides at the intersection of government and business.  This program was relevant not just to both of these topics, but how they interrelate. The program also strengthened my communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills, which will help me work and lead more effectively going forward.

What is one of the most important lessons you have learned while at Georgetown?

Investing time, effort, and passion into this program will yield rewards. Growth, knowledge, and genuine connection with others are just a few of the lessons I’ve learned!

Is there a particular person in the Georgetown community that has been instrumental to your success?

Dean Kamrad and the team of professors at McDonough are immensely gifted and caring!  I was amazed, not just by the quality of instruction and talent the professors brought to each course, but by their genuine passion for teaching.  

What are your post-graduate plans?

I plan to finish my Air Force career and then transition to the private industry.

What advice would you give to the next class of EMBA students?

You’ll get out what you put in – and more. There is so much knowledge and growth that comes from collaborating with classmates and stepping out of your comfort zone with projects and presentations. Focus on building your network and creating lasting relationships. Make the most of this rare and valuable opportunity!
