Georgetown’s Master of Science in Finance Welcomes Largest Class To Date
After another year of record applications, the blended online Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business welcomed its largest class ever with 217 first-year students for the fall 2025 semester. Combined with 143 returning second-year students, the MSF program enrolled an all-time high of 350 students.
“This class reflects the growing strength and reputation of our MSF program,” said Allan Eberhart, senior associate dean for graduate programs in finance at Georgetown McDonough. “Thanks to the dedication of our team, we reached our enrollment capacity earlier than ever this year. Our graduates are increasingly recognized for their readiness to excel in their careers, a testament to the quality and impact of our program.”
This year’s incoming class reflects Georgetown McDonough’s commitment to academic excellence and professional diversity. Approximately 60% of students are enrolled full-time, while 40% are pursuing the program part-time as they continue their careers. Students bring experience ranging from newly graduated professionals to those with more than 25 years in the workforce, representing industries such as consulting, consumer goods, energy and cleantech, government, healthcare, and law.

“It is exciting to see our enrollment expand while maintaining our high admissions standards and the distinctive cohort-based experience that defines our program,” said Jonathan Heath, director of academic operations for the MSF program. Sandy Lee, director of operations for the MSF program, added, “The new class exemplifies our commitment to selectivity, principled leadership, and career preparation, a combination that enriches the experience for students, faculty, and staff alike.”
In addition to their professional achievements, incoming students bring impressive academic records. 12% already hold a master’s degree and 37% earned undergraduate degrees in fields outside business and economics. The cohort’s average GPA is 3.4, underscoring their academic strength and readiness for the program’s rigorous curriculum.
The MSF program combines interactive asynchronous course content with weekly live classes to create an unrivaled blended experience for students. The program’s Blended Classroom empowers students to attend class in person or online and receive the same educational experience.
The program also offers a dedicated career services team that helps students advance in their current organization or transition to a new job during or after the program. “Our students bring diverse professional backgrounds that prepare them to pursue multiple career pathways after graduation,” said Thomas Stowell, associate dean for MSF career management and strategic initiatives.
Designed to transform today’s best professionals into rising industry leaders, the program offers part-time and full-time options to students depending on their professional and academic preferences, both of which can take up to 21 months. The accelerated option, which takes 10 months to complete, is available for students who are interested in completing their degree in a shorter timeframe through an intensive full-time curriculum experience.
