Michael Brown is the general partner at Battery Ventures, joining the organization in 1998. Brown has made or managed multiple investments spanning the enterprise-software, financial-services, and technology-enabled business-services markets. Currently, Brown serves on the boards of AuditBoard, Bonfire Interactive, Diametric Capital, Istra Research, J. Hilburn, Joor, KeyMe, Mendix, Newforma, Nitro Software, Quinyx, RiskIQ, ServiceTitan, Vidyard, and Xenex Disinfection Systems. He also leads or is actively involved in numerous investments for Battery.
From 1996 to 1998, Brown was a member of the high-technology group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked on debt and equity financings as well as mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was a financial analyst within Goldman’s financial-institutions group. There he focused on mergers and acquisitions within asset management, insurance, specialty finance, and retail/mortgage banking.
Brown graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a dual B.S. in finance and international business. He currently is on the board of the National Venture Capital Association and the Board of Overseers at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
